About Hinduism

Hinduism

Hinduism is the main religion of India. According to the Hindus there are three Lords who rule the world; Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma is the creator, Vishnu is the preserver and Shiva is the destroyer.

Some Hindus only worship one or two of the Lords E.G. Brahma and Vishnu.

Even though they worship different Gods and Goddesses, many Hindus believe that those are different faces of the same God.

Hindus have many holy places! The four holiest are called: Badrinath, Puri, Dwarka and Rameshwaram.

These are the four holy places.

Badrinath is located in the Garhwal hills, 30.73°N 79.48°E and it has an average elevation of 3,415 meters. You can see Nilkantha (6560 m) from the temple.
In Hindu scriptures this temple has been described as holy for thousands of years.

Photos from Badrinath, is it not stunning?

Hinduism has grown to become the world’s third largest religion; there are approximately 950 million Hindus around the world, which represents 14% of the world’s religions.

Most Hindus live in India.
